Nidagravel Care and Maintenance:
Protecting the surface
The propertly filled Nidagravel panels are designed to withstand heavy loads and traffic. The extra 3/8”-3/4” layer of gravel above the top of the filled honeycomb cells, creates the compression strength required to accept the traveling load and to make invisible the Nidagravel panels.
A visual inspection of the gravel surface is required 2-3 times a year for residences and 4-6 times a year for public spaces. Maintaining the extra 3/8”- 3/4”top layer of gravel is the goal. Upon visual inspection, if any of the Nidagravel honeycomb cell is exposed, simply raking some extra gravel over that area is all that is required.
If your area is subject to a lot of traffic, some re-raking of the surface may be required. This will be very simple as your only smoothing roughly the top surface of the gravel.
Weeds
While the geotextile mounted under the Nidagravel panels helps prevent weeds from growing up through the base soil, weeds can germinate in the gravel filled honeycombs. They are easily removed as there roots are not able to take hold.
Salt / Snow
Salt does not have a negative effect on the gravel paving with Nidagravel. If a snowplow is used, please set the blades 1 1/4” above the surface of the Nidagravel panels to remove the snow from the surface. Salt can then be spread over the surface to facilitate the melting process.
Wear and Aging
If traveling loads are kept off the Nidagravel panels by the protective top layer of gravel above the honeycomb cells, the wear on the panels will be very minimal. Regular inspection is therefore absolutely essential to protect your investment for many many years.

Nidagravel is chemical resistant
Earth – Humus
If after a number of years, the hollow spaces in the gravel become filled with earth or humus, you can remove just the top layer of gravel and replace it with completely new gravel and have a very low cost makeover.
