Nidagravel Meets ADA Criteria

Nidagravel meets ADA Accessibility Guidelines Ref: 4.3.9

(Ground & Floor Surfaces 4.3.9 for sidewalks and walkways- Exterior Surfaces)

as well as…

US Dept. of Transportation Federal Highway Administration Ref: 5.4.8

(Designing Sidewalks and Trails for Access)

Both agencies start with the premise that “soft surfaces are difficult for people with mobility impairments to negotiate and therefore should be avoided.”

Other considerations for walkways and trails are erosion factors from bad drainage, leading to muddy trails and pot holes...making it more difficult to negotiate for wheelchairs, strollers, and bicycles.

Both agencies accept “materials stabilized and retained by permanent or temporary

geotextiles (mesh), gridforms, or similar construction may perform satisfactorily for persons using wheelchairs and walking aids.”

Nidagravel Gravel Stabilization Panels meets all needs in the guidelines for accessibility per both agencies. The large format panels, with a contiguous honeycomb cell structure, holds the loose gravel in place, allowing for stable ground surface.

Wheelchairs, strollers, bicycles, and pedestrian traffic will be able to smoothly negotiate over the surface. Muddy trails with ruts and potholes will be eliminated. The surface will be 100% Permeable and path will be completely stabilized from surface erosion. Very low ongoing maintenance is required. Truly resilient.
